Contributor Spotlight

Ananya Bhattacharyya

Ananya Bhattacharyya is a deeply passionate poet hailing from Assam, India. With a postgraduate degree in Life Sciences, specializing in Zoology, she carries a scientific awareness. Her connection to nature is intimate and enduring. Reading remains one of her most cherished pursuits, as a lifelong companionship. Where books become trusted confidants and constant source of inspiration. At the core of her identity lies a simple yet powerful belief: to remain true to oneself in a world that often demands conformity.

The Poem at the Center

Freedom Arrives Before Certainty

The Flight begins with motion. A woman who has been quiet for years is imagined not as someone waiting for permission, but as someone already moving toward a different life. The poem’s sea and wings give freedom a physical shape: wide, risky, beautiful, and impossible to keep contained forever.

A brief line captures the turn: “She’s embracing her freedom to fly high.” The power of that image is not escape for its own sake. It is recognition. The speaker sees possibility where silence once dominated.

Becoming does not always begin with a grand declaration. Sometimes it begins when a person finally stops shrinking.

Editorial Lens

Silence Is Not the Same as Surrender

The woman in the poem has been taciturn, but silence does not erase her agency. It can hold exhaustion, observation, patience, fear, calculation, or the slow gathering of courage. Bhattacharyya’s imagery allows the reader to see that a quiet period may still contain movement beneath the surface.

That is why the flight matters. It is not simply a destination. It is a shift from endurance to authorship: from surviving circumstances to choosing a direction.

Reader Reflection

What Would You Do With More Room to Become?

Where in your life have patience and silence been mistaken for permanence? What changes when you begin treating freedom not as something granted by others, but as something you are responsible for recognizing and protecting?

Issue 3 Connection

July — Become • Stage IV: Flight

The Flight belongs naturally in July because the poem turns resilience into motion. It asks what happens after endurance—when a person begins to claim worthiness, direction, and a life that can no longer be defined by old limits.
